FAQ

The questions owners ask first.

Control, profits, structure, valuation, and what happens if you want out.

Control of your firm

Do I keep control of my firm?

Yes. You continue to run your firm day to day, keeping your brand, staff, and client relationships. You also continue to set your firm's profits, promotions, and bonuses.

What control do I maintain over my firm and its cash flows?

Member firms retain full control over employees, production, and local budgets and cash flows. You choose your tax and audit software, your hiring, and your compensation philosophy. Your team continues to report to you.

Do I have to change my systems?

Some consolidation makes sense at the alliance level, particularly HR, payroll, and selected platforms. Most production software stays the same, on your call.

Profits and fees

Do I keep my profits?

Yes. Firms retain their profits, net of a modest management fee that covers alliance operations, the Extended Back Office, and other expenses the Board approves.

How the Alliance runs

What is the organizational structure of the Alliance?

Linked Accounting Alliance is a Utah-domiciled LLC owned by its member firms. The Alliance is governed by a Board of Governors drawn one partner per firm. The Board oversees the executive team that runs the Alliance, while member firms continue to operate independently under that umbrella.

Who is the General Partner of the Alliance?

The General Partners are the founding partners of the Alliance's founding member firm, which has been operating since 2012 and has consistently outgrown the average CPA firm of its size. Forming the Alliance extends that operating model and growth profile to other forward-thinking firms.

What is the Shared Services Group?

A wholly owned licensed CPA firm within the Alliance, staffed to provide billable work for member firms. It includes specialists in valuation, cost segregation, and R&D tax credits, a growing Fractional CFO offering, and CFO recruiting.

Can my firm use services that sit at another member firm?

Yes. Some capabilities, such as audit, transaction advisory, IRS and state audit resolution, and payroll through an Alliance payroll partnership, sit at individual member firms rather than the Shared Services Group. Any firm in the Alliance can bring them to its own clients.

What is included in the Extended Back Office?

Full payroll support with consolidated benefits and technology pricing. Finance outsourcing covering statement preparation for the Alliance and member firms, AP, reconciliations, and AR receipts. Robust HR and IT services, plus recruiting help so member firms can hire their own accounting staff.

Growth and exit

How will the Alliance improve the efficiency and EBITDA of my firm?

By absorbing administration into the Extended Back Office, partners reclaim time currently lost to running the firm. The Rosenberg study puts partner billable hours in sub-$5M firms at roughly 1,055, with the balance spent on administration. AI tooling and large-scale offshoring compress production hours further, while expanded service lines lift EBITDA on top of that.

How will the Alliance grow my organic revenue?

Most firms under $10M concentrate in tax, audit, and bookkeeping. The Alliance has built two Joint Ventures (Wealth Management and mortgage), and the Shared Services Group brings in-house valuation, cost segregation, R&D credits, and Fractional CFO capability. Data-informed advisory tooling identifies the next revenue opportunities client by client.

How does the Alliance increase the valuation of my firm by 2x or more?

Independent firms below $10M typically clear 1.0 to 1.5x revenue or 3 to 5x EBITDA, with an owner-dependency discount. Platform-scale alliances clear 3x+ revenue or 12 to 15x+ EBITDA, with comparable transactions reaching 17x+ in 2026. Your value, as part of the larger organization, compounds accordingly.

Risk and leaving

How does the Alliance separate professional liability between member firms?

Each member firm is structured as a wholly owned entity with isolated risk. Member firms continue to handle their own state licensing, professional insurance, and peer reviews.

What happens if I regret joining the Alliance?

The Alliance is built with exit mechanisms in place. A member firm that decides the partnership is no longer the right fit can leave on reasonable terms.
